What a pitiful statement. They make all the money and screw the fans. Now I know I won't be back next year. YJoie Chitwood is rediculous and will be losing a lot of loyal fans over this and I am one of them. Good luck seeing a sellout for this race again. Disgraced In Indy, DieselinIndy |

I can turn the tv off next year if i'm dissapointed, and save the cash. There is a trustworthiness here that you will put on a good show, not make excuses. The decisionmakers for the tires in this race should all be looking for a job. How embarrassing. |

I was there and I saw , without a doubt, the worst spectacle in racing. I will come back though because I'm a race fan and that is how we roll. However I live alot closer to Kentucky Motor Speedway. Maybe NASCAR set you up for that to happen. It is indeed a crazy world! Wish I could get some compensation for this disaster , too bad the three main groups responsible NASCAR, IMS, Goodyear won't accept any. Just voicing my opinion, Is'nt America great! |

After spending $600+ to take my family to the race yesterday, I am left disappointed for the second year in a row. NASCAR and Goodyear should be ashamed. When I called NASCAR to ask what they were going to do about the racing, they told me I should take it up with IMS... finger-pointing everywhere! My eight-year-old autistic son, Alex, attended for the second year in a row. Last year he wasn't that excited after the race and this year he told us that he didn't want to attend anymore. All I know is that the renewal season is here and I'm finding it hard to want to come back after this debacle. I'm looking for IMS, Goodyear, and NASCAR to admit that the racing was pathetic, accept responsibility, and tell us how they're going to fix this pervasive tire problem. |

TG and the whole crew at Indy are only too happy to lay the responsibility for yesterday's abomination of a race at the feet of NASCAR and Goodyear. Perhaps it does belong there, but Indy itself is at least partly to blame. The track is in need of a complete repaving, after having been totally ruined by 'diamond grinding'. I'd rather run on the damned bricks than on that cheese grater of a track. Count me out for next year. I have better things to do than watch a third of a race run under caution because Indy, NASCAR, and Goodyear weenied out. The Allstate 400? What a joke. R |

The 2008 Brickyard 400 was my first visit to Indy. The day up to the green flag was spectacular. Indy's staff were extremely helpful and friendly to my son and I when we asked questions on directions, history of the race track and so forth. The world stopped for precious moments as my son and I visited the Museum. The atmosphere before the race was electric for us and will be remembered forever. The race however was terrible. The Greatest Race Track in the World should not ever be witness to such a poor event. NASCAR and Goodyear should be ashamed of themselves. I was absolutely stunned by this poor performance on the race track. IMS officials need to be more involved than simply turning a race at Indy over to NASCAR's sanctioning body. IMS cannont simply stand aside of such a huge event as the Brickyard 400. PLEASE IMS takeover this race! Insist to NASCAR run the race "our" way or find somewhere else to race. IMS and racing fans deserved so much more. I wasn't going to renew for 2009's Brickyard 400, my heart says yes, my brain says no. I'm listening to my heart this time because of the spectucular day my son son and I were having before the race due to Indy's spectacular atmosphere. This time I will not hold IMS responsible. Next year I will. Robert Hightower Jr. |

I have never missed a race at Indy but I must say after 100 laps of that junk on Sunday and I was ready to go to the motorhome and call it a day. I spend $230in tickets, $160 in camping pass, $100 in other items, $150 in gas total $640 for an event like that.... I will be back but I can tell you many of the people in the camping lot will not, heck some left before the race was over they had had enough. I feel really bad for the speedway this issue is Nascar and Goodyear's, the motor speedway should get a check for 50000 empty seats next year from Goodyear. |

I suggest Indy better make complete and total refunds on all tickets and all cost associated with those individuals who went to the race. After we returned home, we watched the race again on TIVO. What a completely different race it was. ESPN announced before the race even started that there were going to competition yellows every 10 laps or so. While listening to race at the speedway, not one metion of these yellows at all until more than half way threw. Some of the yellows were claimed as debris on the track inside the speedway, when in fact they were SCHEDULED COMPETITION YELLOWS. This is not a NASCAR or GOODYEAR ISSUE< IT IS AN ISSUE OF THE SPEEDWAY. THEY WANTED TO AVOID WHAT HAPPENED AT THE F1 RACE, SO THEY LIED TO THE COMSUMER. |

We all know this is nobody's fault. Nobody fixed the surface of the track in such a way that it wouldn't eat tires. (And not just in this racing series) Nobody brought a tire compound that could last more than 10 laps after nobody was allowed to test after the initial problems with the tires were found. Nobody decided that the fans deserved more than to see a Pit Crew Challenge or the Pace Car lead the most laps. Nobody did anything, so it HAS to be nobody's fault. Shame on Nobody, and everyone associated with them... (You know, the Track Owners, Goodyear, and NASCAR.) I've been to a couple Brickyards, and I can honestly say without a doubt that I'll never be back. Yesterday was a debacle of the worst kind. |

IMS is not the problem. Pre-race shows on all networks for two weeks had drivers talking about the ability to go two wide at Indy. NASCAR engineered the COT, Smoke told us in the spring that Goodyear builds crap for tires, NASCAR crew chiefs voted against an open test at Indy, and people keep showing up at NASCAR races. Go figure. IMS and Tony George must stand up to NASCAR on this one. NASCAR and Goodyear need to be sent to the NASCAR "penalty box" hauler. Watch out but I think the 800 lb. Gorilla has begun to diet by shedding it's fan base. |

I emailed IMS to ask for a refund or credit to the next event, as we all know "pacing" is not racing. They told me they ran 400 miles, so their commitment to was complete and said contact Goodyear or Nascar. Who is in charge at Indy? Real Nice - See you in 2009 -NOT!! |

Joie, Great statement regarding the IMS position on the Fiasco 400.... I have been a season ticket holder since the very first 400, your statements make me eager to send off my check for next year’s event! The 400 should use the slogan "Biggest Spectacle in Racing"... Although, I think that is it reasonable that the track surface has not changed, and therefore IMS should not shoulder the direct blame for the tire fiasco, the simple fact that you seem to not get is that the spectators did not pay their money to NASCAR, nor to Goodyear. We gave our money to you. It is in your, and your customers, best interest to engage in productive communication with NASCAR and Goodyear to correct the situation. The finger pointing is of no benefit to anyone. You must find a solution that addresses the perception that IMS, Goodyear, and NASCAR only cares about taking the spectators money. If not addressed more appropriately than your previous response, then you deserve to loose the customers that got caught up in this mess. By the way, I had my Goodyear Radial T/As removed from my car on the way home from the race. Who knew that Goodyear’s were only good for 25 miles? Thanks, embarrassed for you. |

I have supported all racing at Indy for many years. 500 tickets (even with the split), all 15 Brickyard races, and even the F-1. I have come to expect fun excitement and even the pageantry. I should have seen the writing on the wall when IMS/Nascar couldn't even get the fly-over on time during the National Anthem. Rumor has it that the planes were all equipped with Goodyear landing gear and to do a mandatory stop in Kokomo. I don't know I should expect a better race anytime in the near future. I don't know why I would want to support the Moto GP. Why should I come back????? |

"We will continue to work with NASCAR and Goodyear before next year's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. If more testing is needed, we will make the facility available in an effort to present a safe, competitive race for the fans in 2009." CONTINUE to work with?!?!? Did you ever start?!@?! Did you dissappear after taking our money and saying "Gentlemen, start your engines"?!?!? "IF" more testing is needed?!?!!?! This your first try at running a speedway!!!????? This is enough for me to cancel our annual trip to the now laughable "Great American Race". It is an insult to racing and AMERICA!!! Shame on you Ms. Chitwood....early retirement (like TODAY) should be considered! |

I was hot and cold on Tony for a long time....now I feel he is the only one speaking the truth and showing real emotions! I like Jimmie, but he said "We'll take our lumps, learn from them, and move on". What a crock of crap....the FANS took the lumps. Jimmie's lumps should be taken during practice and testing so we, the fans, don't need to take them for them! Good comments. |

I don't know what race you attended yesterday, but I was in the stands in Indy too. The only time debris was ever mentioned as a reason for the cautions was early in the race when there were actually accidents (blown tires). It was made very clear that "competition yellows" would be thrown after 10-12 laps of green flag racing. It's unfortunate that you apparently never heard anything until after the halfway point in the race. It's ridiculous to blame the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for what happened yesterday. Nothing has changed with the track since 2005. The blame falls with NASCAR and Goodyear for failing to conduct the proper testing to ensure Goodyear supplied the right tires for the race. Remember, this is the first time that the Car of Tomorrow has been run at Indy -- obviously, the combination of the COT and Goodyear tires didn't work together. But that's NASCAR's and Goodyear's fault, not the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Fans should be pissed about what happened yesterday -- but at least be pissed at the right people.
