worst race ever- total rip off of customers
this was the worst race ever- cost a fortune and there was no race- it was strictly a pit crew winning race.  you should have refunded everyone money and drawn staws would have been more fair..  wont go back to indy again.. we will stick with MIS...

Encourage Goodyear to Accept the Blame - AND Refund or $$
The Spedway, in my opinin, is not at all responsible for this insult to the race fans.  Pure and simple, it is Goodyear who failed to test properly and to supply the correct tires. Although I do agree that we all paid our money to The Speedway, Goodyear is at fault and should step up to the plate and refund the total cost incurred.

I've already voiced my opinion and requested a refund.  Please consider doing it, too.

Let's put a little pressure on Goodyear to 'do the right thing' .....

 No brickyard
We purchased 10 tickets at $85 a piece.  They went up again in price!!! Whatever!  We are not reordering!  We have ordered tickets since the 1st BrickYard - we are done!  Also we ordered 8 tickets for the Indy 500 since the early 80's and we are done there too.  It has never sat right with me with the whole Indy/Cart.  If Brickyard would have gave a small credit toward ticket holders, we would have re-ordered.  They know who the ticket holders are!   Look around Indy - the stands were not full this year and there will be even less people next year!

 Gimme' freakin' break!!!!
History has shown that IMS will claim no responsibility for anything. As a motor sports fanatic and a spectator (or should I say victim) at both Sunday's Brickyard 400 and the Michelin debacle of the 2005 Formula One race;  screw the fans, it's all about the dough.  Now in the case of the 2005 F-1 race, Michelin did finally own up and make a gesture to the fans.  Not Formula One, not IMS.  Just Michelin.

As a fan who puts out for tickets, air fare, hotel, restaurants, cabs, tips, concessions, souvenirs, incidentals, etc., I appreciate the gesture of the tire maker but where's the freakin' apology and perhaps another gesture or two in the name of fan appreciation.

In this case, at least team owners and drivers made an attempt to put on a show...if you call a "Pit Stop Competition a show.  Goodyear, Nascar and IMS have a responsibility to thier fans.  And what are we getting from them??  A promise to make an effort to make the 2009 race better!  Mark my words...that's all we are getting.
Well my friends...I've had a enough.  IMS...Mr. George, Mr. Chitwood...I've put up with crappy races, contrived finishes, a six car Bridgestone Tire testing session....... and now this!!!  I've had enough.  You've lost me and several others I know of.  No more 500's, no more Brickyards, could'nt care less if you bring back the Formula One, no Indy Car races anywhere and under no circumstances will I attend the MotoGP in September.  Get with the sanctioning bodies and tire manufacturers and make it right.  It's your facility, your fans...own up!

I feel everyone is to blame about Sunday's Race.  Goodyear for the tire issue.  Nascar for not doing enough testing on this track. Indy Speedway for not informing the fans on what was going on.  If all of you would get together and issue some kind of refund or discount on next years race. The fans wouldn't be so upset.  I too paid $600 for my seats. (family of four) and I'm still not sure if I want to renew.  It's a lot to pay to not see a race.  Think about it Nascar, Goodyear and Indy Speedway!!!!!!  You know who you're ticket holders are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 NASCAR/Goodyear vs. F1/Michelin
All you NASCAR fans should just be glad you got to see more than 6 cars taking part in the race....

Put the blame where it belongs
I can't believe you people. Yeah it sucks that you paid to see a bad race but IMS is not at fault here. This is the same surface they have raced on since 2005. Place the blame on NASCAR's COT and Goodyear.

Fans Ripped Off Again...Chitwoods Reponse: "It's not my fault!" Again.
History has shown that IMS will claim no responsibility for anything. As a motor sports fanatic and a spectator (or should I say victim) at both Sunday's Brickyard 400 and the Michelin debacle of the 2005 Formula One race I can say the Official IMS position is: screw the fans, it's all about the dough.

In fairness, in the case of the 2005 F-1 race, Michelin did finally own up and make a gesture to the fans.  Not Formula One, not IMS.  Just Michelin.

As a fan who puts out significant dough for tickets, air fare, hotel, restaurants, cabs, tips, concessions, souvenirs, incidentals, etc., I appreciate the gesture of the tire maker but where's the freakin' apology and perhaps another gesture or two in the name of fan appreciation from the other responsible/involved parties???

In this case, at least team owners and drivers made an attempt to put on a show...if you call a "Pit Stop Competition" a show.  Goodyear, Nascar and IMS have a responsibility to thier fans.  And what are we getting from them??  A promise to make an effort to make the 2009 race better!  Mark my words...that's all we are getting.

I would suggest you get with the sanctioning bodies and tire manufacturers and make it right.  It's your facility, your responsibility, your show, your fans...own up!

I know this....I won't attend another event at IMS and the Goodyear tires currently on my vehicles will not be replaced with Goodyears when the time comes.

 I'm not renewing!!
I've seen every Brickyard race and 33 of the last 35 Indy 500's.  There's lots of blame to go around and the Speedway is NOT OFF THE HOOK!  The facts are that 3 of the 4 slowest Brickyard 400 events have been run since the last Speedway resurfacing job in 2005.  Since '05 the race has averaged 9.5 cautions per race with 40.5 laps of caution.  There were competition cautions in other years too.  What I can't figure out is that Goodyear competes against NO ONE!  If they need to sacrifice speed for durability they should do it!  Build a rock hard tire that goes 170mph for 100 miles and call it a success!  When the Brickyard was new in 1994 everyone ran in the high 160's and we had a GREAT SHOW!  In '95 the race had ONE caution and Dale Sr. ran everyone down from a 20-something starting position.

NASCAR owns the rights to alll this and they should step up and admit they blew it too.  The fact that they get it right most of the time is little consolation to those of us who want to see ONE EVENT IN PERSON per year.  They ruined our one event and we won't be compensated.  So lets not reward them either.  Send a message and don't renew.  If things change you can order next Spring.  The DVD they send you is going to suck anyway!

 Brickyard 400
I agree that Goodyear and NASCAR should have known...Jr. said he was there some months ago to test tires and the tires only lasted about 5 laps.. So somehow Goodyear doubled the life to about 10 laps. I hope next year they get the car of tomarow to run on all four wheels and not just on the right side tires...

 Allstate 400
I feel that Goodyear is mostly to blame but the BUCK stops with NASCAR.    If they realized there was issues with the tires after the testing that was done and they still had issues then somebody needs to get fired.

Yes I was disappointed with the racing.    I hated seeing all the few lap sprints to the next caution but YES we will be back next year.     IMS is only about 85 miles from the house and we don't get any better opportunities to experience NASCAR.

We drove back and forth Fri/Sat and SUnday and we had a good time over all.   It's just the entire experience that made it all worth while.           I have a feeling that the powers that be will do anything and everything they can to ensure that the race that happened sunday never happens again.

Move this race to a Nascar Track, Kentucky Speedway
Indy is set up for F1 and Indy car Racing.
Other than the largest crowd and biggest money maker IMS could care less about Nascar.
If it did the track surface would not be ground off like it is.
Plain and simple.
Even when the track was supposedly good it was a boring race, follow the leader, with little passing.
We tried it , didnt work out , move on!!!!!!!!

I was a first time Brickyard 400 visitor. Impressed NOT!!! You know HOOSIER TIRE is 2 and half hours up the road from INDY. I'm sure they know how to provide a decent tire. Dale Jr. even said it in April that tires are an issue, HELLO do something.

 BY 400 was a joke...on the fans!
This was my 12th Brickyard 400 and I have to agree with the majority of statements I have read so far. NASCAR screwed this up royally! For us to pay big money in this climate and have to sit there and watch yellow flag after yellow flag fly because NASCAR couldn't figure out that they had a major problem with the COT (Car of Tomorrow) and the tire selection only goes to show us what the NASCAR heads really things about their fans. All we are to them is a bunch of dollar signs and they could care less about what type of product they put out there. This was my last 400 and I am going to plan on spending my money at Mid-Ohio going forward when the Indy 200 runs next year.
I feel bad for the Speedway and Tony George because this is not his fault, yet he is going to lose a number of fans because of the fools at NASCAR.
I do have a suggestion for NASCAR. Continue with the name COT but instead of the CAR of Tomorrow, how about Crap on Tires???

Everyone always wants to blame IMS - why?
Indy is a terrific facility for the fans.  I can think of no other sporting venue where I can find food, drink, and restroom so quickly without waiting.  I have found the facilities at other tracks to be hardly a comparison.

For the second year in a row and more than once this season, Goodyear have missed the mark for tire compound and construction.  They should offer discounted tickets to the fans.

Bridgestone, the world's greatest tire maker, needs to enter NASCAR and show 'em how it's done.  I will never buy Goodyear tires again.  It is a shame that our own American brand has let us down this way.

 NASCAR NONCOMPETION YELLOWS
What is there to be said. My brother and I wanted to go to a race. We thought what a better place to go than to the worlds most famous track to enjoy our first ever racing experience. We couldn't have made a bigger mistake.

Sunday's yellow flags have left a very bitter taste in my mouth.  All the players need to take responsibility for this shamefull performance. If Indy wants to put on a show, they need to make sure it is a show worthy of the track. This is Indy. there is a reason they only race two times (now three) here a year. NASCAR and the owners are to blame is well. They rushed the COT and now the fans are all paying for it. Goodyear has to demand more testing if they can't seem to get this right.

All in all, I spent a ton of cash to witness a 43 car tire test. We will do another race next year, but it won't be Indy. All parties are going to have to prove they can actually put together a competitive race. And most of all, accept responsibility for the what all the fans sat through on Sunday. I agree the pre race experience at Indy is awesome, but in the end we are there for the racing.

 Fans Screwed as Usual
I'm sick of the finger pointing! Split the cost between the three of you (IMS, Nascar, and Speedway) and do the RIGHT thing.  Listen to your fans!  You made millions off your fans for a race that wasn't.  You should be ashamed.

 Very disappointed
I don't blame the Speedway at all! NASCAR and Goodyear knew they had troubles on Friday afternoon! I don't think the Speedway should do anything about giving discounts for our tickets next year, I believe NASCAR and Goodyear should foot the bill for it!! I never have been so upset about a race! I feel the drivers and teams did the best they could have done considering. I put all the blame on NASCAR and Goodyear, now get your head on straight and buck up and make it right to the Indy fans!!!!

 Pathetic Race and Show!!!!!!!!!

This was my 5th in a row Brickyard and was the worst along with three family members. I do not believe I will renew my tickets for next year. For all the money it cost (TICKET PRICES INCREASED THIS YEAR AND MOTEL ROOMS)for the 4 of us to go. Not to mention gas prices to drive 800 miles round trip.
To see a 1/3 of the race under caution. Most of them competition cautions. I did not see too much competition under caution. It was like going to the local tracks and watching 10 lap heat races, but we never saw the feature race!
Our seats are in the Southeast Vista Section 30 Row BB. We all kept blinking like something in our eyes when they did run somewhat under power. We did not know until we got back to the motel room. That our white hats and white shirts had little black spects all over them. That is ridiculous setting that high and getting tire debris. We never had that before.

All the teams were talking about saving tires and just riding around until the last sprint. That is pathetic for what we pay for tickets to see the cars ride around until the last 7 laps.

We all talked about it on the ride home today. And reading NASCAR.com tonight and no one has any idea on fixing the problem may have made up our minds. Most fans go to see cars racing at a race, not follow each other around on caution laps or trying to ride around until the last 7 laps.
If Goodyear cannot make a tire to hold up. I am sure someone can or quit racing at Indy!
I will continue to go to Martinsville, Bristol and Richmond where you can still see a good race and show.
