Newman's Passion For Motor Racing Started, Flourished At Indianapolis
Paul Newman was introduced to motor racing in 1968 while filming a movie at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and that blossomed into a 40-year passion for the sport that included co-ownership of one of the most powerful teams in the Indianapolis 500 of the last 25 years and his own successful driving career. Newman, an Academy Award-winning actor and world-renowned activist and humanitarian, died Friday, Sept. 26 at his home in Westport, Conn. He was 83. Tony George Statement
